Republic Tiger Pride Band Boosters
Minutes
Monday, March 5, 2018
The meeting was called to order by Stephanie Callahan at 7 p.m. She welcomed everyone and
asked if there were additions to the agenda. There were none.
The minutes from the January 8, 2018 meeting were read and no additions or corrections were
requested.
The treasurer’s report was given by Barb Houser. The MCCGA competition in January was
successful – about $4000 was made for the color guard and percussion.
Altis’ Announcements
The District Band Concert in January at SBU was very good.
Jacob Mitchell represented Republic at State Band.
Uniform Update – Mr. Altis has approval from administration to purchases 210 uniforms.
o There was an open bid process, with sealed bids due Thursday, March 1, 2018.
o The winning bid was from DeMoulin.
o The bid now goes to the School Board for their approval. This will be done at the March meeting.
o Once the bid is approved, the band students will be measured for sizing and an order placed.
o Hopefully we will have new uniforms by our first competition.
Jazz Band
o Parkview – the Middle School placed second
o Pitt State (March 2)
Middle School received at II
Jazz I received at II
Jazz II received II+
o Drury (March 3)
Middle School placed first. Ocean Masseck, a 7th grader on alto sax received an award.
Jazz I and II did not place in the top 3 of their class. Ian Zinecker on guitar received a solo award.
o The jazz band will perform at the Chick-Fil-A fundraiser on April 24.
One Fine Night will be April 30. The jazz bands from the high school and middle school will perform.
Band Celebration Party is tentatively scheduled for April 21. He will check with administration to schedule the date and get approval.
Next band fee is due March 23.
The directors have not decided on music or an idea/concept for the 2018 marching show.
Pep Band went to the elementary schools today. The rest of the week, the fifth graders will be tested on instruments.
Middle School solos and ensembles will be Thursday, March 8.
District Contest for the high school band will be March 24 at Glendale. About the same number of students will participate this year as did last year. The Band Boosters will provide lunch for the participants.
Indoor Percussion Update from Mr. Edwards
At the most recent (March 3) indoor percussion contest, Republic placed first.
The next big competition will by March 18 at Kickapoo. It is a super-show and lines from Missouri, Illinois and Arkansas will be represented.
Old Business
Drawing will start soon. One ticket for $2 or 3 tickets for $5. Prizes will be awarded at One Fine Night. Mr. Edwards will check the tickets out to students once they are ready.
Tires for the box truck and trailer. We received several bids. All tires on the box truck were replaced. The trailer had four of eight replaced.
Fund Raisers
o Drive $ UR School will be April 21 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. For every test drive,
the band earns $20. We can earn up to $6000.
o Chick-Fil-A on South Glenstone will donate a percentage of their sales to the
band on April 24 from 6-8 p.m. The jazz band will perform in the parking lot.
There will be jars placed on the tables for tips.

New Business
The Handbook, By-Law and Social Media committees will begin to meet soon. If you haven’t signed up to help and you’d like to, please let us know.
One Fine Night will be April 30.
o The Band Boosters will provide a meal and the winners of the drawing will be announced.
o The smoker that we have used in the past is not working, so we need to find an alternative. A band mom will check to see if friends can smoke the meat for us.
o Meal will be pulled pork, chips, beans, potato salad or cole slaw. We will ask parents to donate desserts.
The next meeting will be April 2 at 7 p.m.
